Today, I had the honor of leading the Ukrainian Embassy in Iraq’s delegation, alongside the esteemed Ambassador, at the Erbil Chamber of Commerce. Our goal was to fortify commercial diplomacy and enhance bilateral ties, reaffirming our commitment to bolster trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Iraq. This initiative marks a significant step forward in supporting both Ukrainian and Iraqi businesses.

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the Duhok Chamber of Commerce held a conference in collaboration with the Iraqi-Ukrainian House and the Kurdistan Foundation for Innovation, sponsored by Hanar Motors, a leader in the assembly of electric vehicles. The conference is part of the region’s efforts to enhance the use of renewable energy and support the transition to environmentally friendly transportation options.

The conference discussed several key topics including advancements in electric vehicle technology, the economic opportunities presented by this industry, and the challenges facing its growth in the region. Hanar Motors’ role in boosting the industry by locally assembling electric vehicles was highlighted, which enhances Kurdistan’s industrial capabilities and creates new job opportunities.

Additionally, the conference discussed how governmental and private institutions can support the necessary infrastructure projects for electric vehicles, such as charging stations, and improve regulatory frameworks to encourage their use. The importance of public-private partnerships and international cooperation, especially with Ukrainian companies, to achieve these goals was emphasized.

This conference represents a significant step towards a more sustainable future in Iraq and Kurdistan and reflects the ongoing efforts of the region to adopt advanced and environmentally friendly technologies, contributing to improved quality of life and economic prosperity for its residents.

Baghdad, Iraq – On Thursday, April 18, 2024, a pivotal meeting was held between representatives of the Iraqi Ukrainian House for Trade and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Ukrainian Embassy in Baghdad, Mr. Aleksandr Boravchenkov. The gathering, which took place in the Iraqi capital, included Dr. Imad Balak, president of the organization, and engineer Adel Al-Masoudi.

The discussions culminated in a significant agreement to organize an economic conference in both Baghdad and Erbil. This initiative, sponsored by the Iraqi Ukrainian House for Trade, aims to strengthen economic ties between Iraq and Ukraine. The conference will feature a series of visits by Ukrainian business leaders to Iraq, intended to enhance partnership opportunities and expand commercial activities across various sectors, thereby boosting the bilateral trade volume between the two nations.
